Back in 2001, we were looking for an escape from the city life and a new challenge. We were shown a property near where the lovely Konewa Stream flows into the Pohangina river and fell in love with it immediately.
The cottage started life as a very basic structure used as a shelter for the workers on the Pine plantation behind us and as a bivouac for hunters and fisherman. We found that it had no electricity or bathroom facililties and believe me, the trip to the long drop on frosty mornings soon lost its novelty!
Since then we have transformed this one room hut into a delightful character cottage which retains its charm but is also very easy and comfortable to stay in.
Konewa Cottage is perfect as a romantic hideaway, a base for fishing, a writer's and artist's retreat or just a place to unwind.
