SPRING
Spring has sprung, the grass has riz, I wonder where the lambies is, as my dear old Dad would say. Well there have been two arrivals this spring. Congratulations go to Mikey and Nigs on a fine son called Ben. Our teenage mum, Hershey also gave birth to a lovely little girl called Betty. Betty was possibly the smallest lamb I have seen. In fact Neville, the cat, at first wondered if she might be a tasty rabbit. Mikey soon had a word and set young Neville right. Betty is a healthy wee thing and with the help of her Grandma, Cadbury she is thriving.
The walnuts are in leaf despite a few sleepless and frosty nights. We have had some superb spring weather with clear blue days and starry nights. For the astronomers amongst you the views of Orion have been spectacular. I know he is supposed to be the mighty celestial archer but he looks more like an 80's disco dancer to me.
The berries are also coming along nicely and there will soon be freshly picked berries for the breakfast baskets. In order to prevent a repetition of last years terrorist chicken raids which wiped out the red currents and did a lot of damage to the raspberries and black currents I have informed our six winged berry bandits about the newly passed anti-terrorist laws. They did not seem impressed however so I am trusting to the newly erected netting.
Everything is just lovely at the moment with lush new growth everywhere, the dahlias and hostas are coming up and the foxgloves are beginning to flower. The wood pigeons are nesting and bustling from one side of the valley to the other looking for berries and flowers. The tree legumes by the pond are a great favourite. They sit in the branches taking great greedy beakfulls of blossom.
But come and see for yourselves, we'd love to have you
